Channel direction
After many years of trying to get my Youtube channel monetized I have given up on it. Not to say that I won’t still post videos as that’s kind of a part of my life now, but my focus has shifted. I shall be focusing more on saving money and finding ways to make more meaningful contributions to keep us afloat. Like gardening, and while I will continue to post about what I’m currently making, because I will always make things, it will be seasoned with updates on gardening.
Garden, your in an apartment?
How it started.
Our fourplex is on 2 plus acres, and for a while we lived here grateful that we could afford it. As the axiom goes ‘Answer is no, until you ask’ so we asked our landlord if he minded if we planted a Garden. He was agreeable to it. ‘Just make it a home’ he said. So, we planted one.
We first started to want a garden to get my stepsons outside doing ‘chores’ that build character and teach responsibility. So with my husband taking the lead we had a few gardens over the years, but because he had a full plate, those gardens were not lastingly successful.
I on the other hand have more time on my hands, especially with dialing back on my effort on my channel. So, this year we started another garden, in a new location, one that would not be torn down every year. One that would be closer to the building, and hence easier for me to monitor and take care of.
With the economy the way it is, and food prices soaring to new highs, a garden just made sense. We knew it wouldn’t save us any money in the initial year, but this would be an inflation busting garden. That and it would aid me in making a positive contribution to the budget (in time), and help with my mental health. A win/win.
My overall plan and layout was rather simple, but breaking ground was hard work. We started when the ground was softer. The original plan was to build this piecemeal and have it ready for planting by next year, but we managed to get it started this year.
I will be posting a video series to my channel soon, as we almost have it all put in for this year, we plans to expand in following years.
Mountain June
I started gathering garden bed blocks early.
My Husband helped make this project possible.
I got out there almost every day and did a little digging to help level the area we wanted.
It was starting to look more leveled.
Building the beds, the leveling too the most time, but we eventually had enough leveled to put in the initial 2 beds.
